Do You Have Any Idea Where You’re Going?
I’ve asked dozens of business owners “What’s your vision?” “Where do you want to be in 5 years?”
And what I almost always hear is…
Crickets.
Nothing.
Nada.
Most business owners are too busy doing what they do,
making things, managing people, dealing with the day to day to actually create a vision for the future...
-
I get it!
There’s a lot to deal with these days.
But, (here's the but again)…
Not having a clear vision for the future is like taking a vacation without knowing where you’re going.
Do you just start driving and hope you end up someplace you want to be?
It’s like sitting down in a restaurant and NOT ordering anything…
Sure, they may bring you something, but will you want it?
(and here's where that A-hole brain comes in again)
Your brain most likely tells you to just work harder.
If you just work hard, you'll get somewhere. You'll be successful. (whatever that means)
How will you know when you get there?
How will you know if you're headed in the right direction?
A clear vision removes the guesswork, defines success, and allows you to thrive in your business. (and life!)
Who's in charge anyway?
Let's face it, sometimes your brain is an a#@hole...
It's noisy. It's chattering away yelling falsehoods, repeating patterns, viewing the world through old misguided beliefs, and generally being a nuisance.
Oh I know, it's also smart (sometimes too smart), and it keeps you alive (which is nice), and it's an amazing problem solving machine.
But (there’s always a but)...
When you let your brain be in charge you're basically a biological robot.
A walking automaton running the same patterns and habits, repeating the same reactions and responses over and over again...
It's no wonder you feel stuck!
Yeah, yeah, that's great, but how does one get unstuck?
The first step is to become aware of all the stuff going on between your ears.
Take a step back from it.
See it for what it is...
It's just your brain doing it's thing, and it doesn't have to run the show.
You can't change what you can't see…
When you begin to become more aware of what's going on upstairs, you can actually begin to change it.
